Title: In Grover's Mill
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] odetteandodile
Rating: M
Word Count: 38,427
Summary: Grover's Mill, 1938--Strange green projectiles have been spotted in the night sky, originating from the vicinity of Mars. When they fall it's not the space rock and meteorite dust everyone expects, but something much, much worse.

Steve Rogers is working at a newspaper in a small town, trying to move away from the memory of his mother's death in New York when the landings happen. When things go badly, he finds himself in the company of a young soldier also making his escape and they throw their lot in together--doing what they can at what seems to be the end of the world.

War of the Worlds AU based on the idea that Orson Welles' broadcast was the real deal.

Summary: It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in want of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. Yet for Steven Rogers, painter of miniatures, it is not the company of ladies, but the acquaintance of Captain James Buchanan Barnes, Royal Navy, that captivates his imagination.

Summary: Steve Rogers is a private investigator who is barely skating by. He spends more time in his office than his apartment, and he continues to watch all his friends live out their lives while he sits on the sidelines.

However, when a case falls into his lap that dredges up past mistakes Steve's life starts to veer off course- in a good way. Probably.

(He's not entirely sure yet.)

Title: After The Bombs
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] fedzgurl
Rating: T
Word Count: 218,953
Summary:
Bucky Barnes never fell off of the train in the Alps. Steve Rogers didn't have to wake up alone in the future. Things aren't exactly perfect as they try to come to terms with a completely different future and work out the feelings that they've had for each other for decades, but at least they get to figure it out together. (The MCU re-imagined with Bucky as an original Avenger)

Title: If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] Scappodaqui
Rating: E
Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence
Word Count: 40,958
Summary: Bucky sometimes caught himself thinking, about the war: is all of this happening because old men saw the raw life in young men and wanted to squelch it? It was the same thing he had thought in school. Running track. When he had worked in the crew building the World’s Fair Railroad. And especially when he got his draft letter: they want to crush us like a piece of tin on train tracks.

Begins at Kreischberg prison camp, continues after the rescue.

Lots of angst. Lots of literary references, foreshadowing, and symbolism porn. A little bit of actual porn.

Oh, and also there’s a bit where we learn seven-year-old Bucky tried to play pirates by naming Steve “Jolly Rogers.”

Summary: He told his ma that one day he would have a good job, a real job where he could wear a nice suit, and a swell house, and Steve would live there with him, and he’d take care of him always, the way his dad took care of his ma. And his ma got a strange look on her face. She hugged him tightly and told him not to think about things like that, it wasn’t right for a boy his age to think about it.

Bucky wondered why.

Bucky Barnes has always loved Steve Rogers. This is the story of how that love grew.

Or, five times Steve caught Bucky looking at him, and the one time he looked first.

Summary: It takes three more days for the weather to break. Three sweltering days of Bucky trying to keep his hands and his eyes to himself, while Steve slouches around the apartment in his skin-damp singlet and underwear, fanning himself lazily and complaining about the heat. Bucky finds his eyes sticking on every movement Steve makes; the languid reach of his arms as he stretches like a lazy cat; the bend of his scabbed elbow as he reaches up to flick the sweaty hair off his forehead; the self-conscious way he licks the salt from around his mouth, eyes on Bucky the whole time.

Steve knows more about this stuff than Bucky, and he's eager to show him what he knows, if they can both get their heads out of their asses long enough.

Title: Building From the Ground Up series
Author: [archiveofourown.org profile] EmilianaDarling
Rating: E
Word Count: 68,687
Summary: “What about you, Barnes?” asks Dugan. The sound of his voice brings Bucky back to the present, dredges him out of memories of a beat-up little apartment with sunlight streaming in through the windows. “Got yourself a girl waiting for you back home?”

There’s an answer on the tip of his tongue, one that he’ll deliver with a cocky grin and a half-laugh and a little shake of his head. But Bucky is exhausted and hungry and so sore it hurts to move, and one of the guys in their platoon fucking died yesterday. His mouth tastes like iodine water and his feet hurt and none of it’s going to get better any time soon, and all at once Bucky misses Steve so badly he can barely see straight.

“Yeah,” Bucky declares abruptly, the word escaping from his mouth before he fully realizes what he’s saying. “Yeah, I do.”
